California: Bill on opt-out rights in relation to mergers read for a second time

On April 25, 2024, Assembly Bill 1824 for California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018: opt-out right: mergers was read for a second time.

The bill requires businesses that transfer consumer personal information as an asset in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or other transaction in which the transferee assumes control of all or part of the transferor to comply with a consumer's opt-out direction to the transferor.
