California: Bill on opt out rights in relation to mergers referred to House Committee

On March 19, 2024, Assembly Bill 1824 for California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018: opt-out right: mergers was re-refered to the Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection after it was introduced to the House on January 11, 2024. The bill would require businesses that transfer consumer personal information as an asset in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or other transaction in which the transferee assumes control of all or part of the transferor to comply with a consumer's opt-out direction to the transferor.
