Uzbekistan: CBU announces consultation on draft regulations on cashless payments

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan ('CBU') announced, on 6 January 2020, that a new version of the regulations on cashless payments in the Republic of Uzbekistan ('the Draft Regulations') had been opened for public consultation. In particular, the CBU noted that the Draft Regulations had been prepared in relation to the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. ZRU-578 of 1 November 2019 on Payments and Payment Systems. In addition, the Draft Regulations would detail, among other things, eligible forms of electronic payments, the documentation required to conduct electronic payments, and procedures for anti-money laundering.

Comments can be submitted until 18 January 2020 on the Comment Portal.

You can read the press release here, only available in Russian, and access the Draft Regulations and the Comment Portal here, only available in Russian and Uzbek.
