South Korea: PIPC fines Moonwon KRW 300,000 for violations of PIPA
The Personal Information Protection Commission ('PIPC') announced, on 27 October 2021, that it had imposed a fine of KRW 300,000 (approx. €220) to Moonwon Medical Foundation Seoul Hospital for violation of the Personal Information Protection Act 2011 (as amended 2020) ('PIPA'). In particular, the PIPC clarified that the violation of PIPA resulted from insufficient safety measures on personal data.
