South Korea: KISA and MSIT announce pre-inspection guide

On March 8, 2024, the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) announced the creation of a guide for information protection disclosure pre-inspection agencies and that a voluntary council to support companies in implementing the information protection disclosure system. The KISA and the MSIT stated that the purpose of the guide is to enhance the professionalism and transparency of the inspection process while also considering that judgment factors may be applied by the pre-inspection organization depending on the characteristics of the company being inspected.  

Specifically, the KISA and the MSIT stated that the guide presents standards and methods to improve the quality of pre-inspection as well as measures to prevent conflicts and ensure impartiality. The organizations also highlighted that a council has been organized, which includes a voluntary group of 20 accounting firms and information system audit firms, which will be responsible for determining compliance with the guide.
