Saxony-Anhalt: LfD Sachsen-Anhalt releases guidance on working from home
The Sachsen-Anhalt data protection authority ('LfD Sachsen-Anhalt') released, on 7 July 2021, guidance on working from home aimed at helping authorities and businesses to comply with the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR'). In particular, the guidance notes that special situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, do not suspend the legal responsibilities of authorities and businesses, and their compliance with data protection requirements. Moreover, the guidance highlights the need for those responsible to implement additional technical and organisational measures, in line with Article 32 of the GDPR, in order to achieve high levels of data protection as required by the GDPR.
Finally, the guidance outlines several areas which should be considered when implementing the required technical and organisational measures, such as training required for employees to understand their data protection responsibilities, prevention of work emails being forwarded to personal emails, and the role of the data protection officer.
