Saxony-Anhalt: LfD Sachsen-Anhalt recalls candidate requirements for data protection state commissioner

The Sachsen-Anhalt data protection authority ('LfD Sachsen-Anhalt') issued, on 9 May 2023, a press release, in which it stated that the State Commissioner for Data Protection ('State Commissioner') will be examining candidates of State parliamentary parties for the office of State Commissioner in Saxony-Anhalt. In particular, the LfD Sachsen-Anhalt stated that after the last amendment to the State Data Protection Act ('DSAG LSA'), State parliamentary groups can propose candidates for State Commissioner to the State Parliament. In this regard, the LfD Sachsen-Anhalt noted that the proposed candidates must meet specific legal mandatory requirements to be eligible for nomination, including management expertise and experience in data protection, among other things, and specified the key obligations that fall within the State Commissioner's responsibilities.
