On February 23, 2024, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) published its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (2023–2027) (SRAP). In particular, the SRAP consists of five pillars, including:

  • governance;
  • ecosystem and technology;
  • capacity development;
  • cooperation and collaboration; and
  • funding and sustainability.

Furthermore, the SRAP provides an estimated timeline for the achievement of its goals, including:

  • implementing and promoting awareness of the Nigerian Data Protection Act, 2023;
  • improving collaboration with counterpart authorities around the world by 2024;
  • developing a data privacy syllabus by 2025;
  • exploring new funding opportunities by 2026; and
  • creating over 500,000 job opportunities by 2027.

You can read the SRAP here.
