California: Bill to amend CCPA definition of sensitive data recommended for passage and re-referred to Committee on Appropriations

On April 17, 2024, Senate Bill 1223 for Consumer privacy: sensitive personal information: neural data was recommended for passage and re-referred to the Committee on Appropriations.

If enacted, the bill would expand the definition of 'sensitive personal information' to include a consumer's neural data. The bill defines 'neural data' as information generated by the measurement of the activity of an individual's central or peripheral nervous systems that can be processed by, or with the assistance of, neurotechnology.
