Denmark: Government expert group on tech giants presents recommendations on a framework for development and use of AI

On February 29, 2024, the Danish Ministry of Business and Industry announced that the Danish Government's expert group on tech giants presented their recommendations on tech giants' development and use of artificial intelligence (AI).

The recommendations aim to explore the potential of AI while countering the harmful effects it may present and center around four themes:

  • tech giants' responsibility for the credibility of information;

  • chatbots should be off by default, not require payment to opt-out, and be free from manipulative design;

  • regulation of unauthorized use of copyrighted material by tech giants; and

  • the market dominance of tech giants in the development of AI.

You can read the press release here and the recommendations here, both only available in Danish.
