Thailand: BoT and FCO sign MoU on financial services to strengthen transparency in the FinTech sector

The Bank of Thailand ('BoT') and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom ('FCO') published, on 13 August 2020, that they had signed, on 7 August 2020, a memorandum of understanding on financial services ('MoU'). In particular, the BoT noted that the MoU will enable the two authorities to raise the requirements of accounting standards whilst strengthening transparency and corporate governance in the region. In addition, the BoT highlighted that through the MoU, the two authorities will exchange expertise and knowledge on new financial trends, regulatory methods, and financial goods and services.
