Saxony: SächsDSB publishes brochure on video surveillance

On January 26, 2024, the Saxon data protection authority (SächsDSB) published a brochure titled 'Attention, Camera!' with information addressing video surveillance for private individuals, companies, and authorities.

The SächsDSB elaborated on the legal requirements and limits to video surveillance and explored topics, such as:

  • the use of dummy cameras;
  • cases where video surveillance is permitted by citizens;
  • how to respond to video surveillance;
  • video surveillance in the commercial sector, including employee surveillance;
  • video surveillance in public areas, particularly by municipalities; and
  • video surveillance by the police.

You can read the press release here and the brochure here, both only available in German.
