Qatar: MOTC announces partnership on Microsoft Azure

The Qatari Ministry of Transport and Communications ('MOTC') and Microsoft Corporation, announced on, 4 November 2019, a new partnership aiming to accelerate the digital transformation agenda across Qatar with the selection of Microsoft Azure as a cloud platform to achieve those goals. In particular, the MOTC stated that Microsoft will be working closely with government entities and private sector organisations to empower them to achieve transformation in their services and technology infrastructure, which will also lead to increased competition and economic growth.

Moreover, the MOTC stated that Microsoft Azure would help its customers to become compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR') and that it is certified for a large portfolio of international security and privacy standards, some of which form the basis of the Qatari government's policies, including MOTC’s National Information Assurance, and the Cloud Security and Information Privacy Protection regulations.
