Peru: ANPD issues recommendations for personal data protection and prevention of sexual harassment for minors

The National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data ('ANPD') issued, on 20 August 2022, recommendations for the protection of personal data and the prevention of sexual harassment, in light of Peru's Children's Day on 21 August 2022. In particular, the ANPD stated that it is important to use the privacy options offered by digital platforms and verify with whom children share their personal information. In this regard, the ANPD recommended:

  • not to disclose data about the school the children attend, addresses, and family photos;
  • not to fill out suspicious forms with personal information or answer questionable emails;
  • to be careful with search results;
  • not to accept unknown contacts on social networks; and
  • to always use secure passwords.

For more guidance, citizens can contact the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights via email to [email protected].
