Panama: ANTAI extends public consultation on legal reform

The National Authority of Transparency and Access to Information ('ANTAI'), announced on, 27 May 2020, that it will extend the public consultation process which aims to provide recommendations to reform the Law 6 of 2002 ('Law 6') and Law 33 of 2013 ('Law 33') respectively until 31 July 2020. In particular, Elsa Fernández Aguilar, Director General of ANTAI, noted that "Law 6, on transparency in public administration, has been in force for 18 years, however, we know that it is of interest, that it must be adapted to current times, taking into account the new relationships and new models of development of public management due to the global pandemic."

Moreover, this consultation process also seeks to strengthen ANTAI and its functions as the governing and supervisory body for issues concerning transparency, access to information, open government and open data.

Comments can be sent for Law 6 and Law 33 to [email protected] and [email protected], respectively.
