The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications of Pakistan (MOITT) has released a draft for a National Artificial Intelligence Policy  (National AI Policy). The  draft National AI Policy  seeks to  build upon  the Personal Data Protection Act, the Pakistan Cloud First Policy, and the Digital Pakistan Policy initiatives. The policy aims to  provide  a framework for long-term awareness and adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), and to, among other things:

  • establish research and innovation centers for testing and developing AI solutions;
  • encourage responsible use of  AI;
  • increase  awareness and understanding of AI amongst the workforce; and
  • use national  information technology  boards to create awareness and offer training programs around responsible AI use.

Additionally, experts in the field of AI from both industry and academia are encouraged to become members of  a Policy  Committee  responsible for finalizing  the  National AI Policy. Interested  experts should provide a profile  with  their request to [email protected]
