Newfoundland and Labrador: OIPC releases annual report
The Information and Privacy Commissioner ('OIPC') released, on 5 June 2020, its annual report for 2018- 2019 ('the Report'). In particular, the Report focuses on the OIPC's work completed in 2019 and highlights that the OIPC had drafted 27 reviews of legislative proposals, conducted 55 privacy assessments, received 16 breach notification reports under the Personal Health Information Act 2008 and received 112 privacy complaints on issues such as the use, disclosure, security and access to personal data.
In addition, the Report outlines the OIPC's objectives to develop new guidance on privacy rights and obligations and conduct continued review of disclosure practices within the health sector.
