New York: Bill on employee monitoring amended and recommitted to Labor Committee

On April 12, 2024, Senate Bill 7623 for an Act to amend the labor law, in relation to restricting the use of electronic monitoring and automated employment decision tools was amended and recommitted to the Labor Committee.

The bill stipulates that it shall be unlawful for an employer or an employment agency to use an electronic monitoring tool to surveil employees residing in New York State except for specific situations described therein, and under the condition that the employer provides a notice to employees.
