Morocco: CNDP signs agreement for use of the national trusted third party for authentication service

The Moroccan data protection authority ('CNDP') announced, on 2 November 2022, that it had signed, alongside the General Directorate of National Security ('DGSN'), the Bank Al-Maghrib, and the Moroccan Banks Association, a framework agreement on the supply and use of the system of national third party for authentication. In particular, this system aims to enable the verification of the identity of individuals seeking to access online banking services, and to make their data more reliable.

Moreover, the CNPD mentioned that the abovementioned system aims to secure banking operations against the risk of fraud by identity theft and money laundering, while adhering to personal data protection standards.
