Massachusetts: Bill on biometric information under security breach law introduced to Senate

Bill S.140 for An Act Relative to Protecting Biometric Information under the Security Breach Law was introduced, on 16 February 2023, to the Massachusetts Senate, with House concurrence, and thereafter referred, on the same date, to the Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Joint Committee. In particular, the bill seeks to introduce the defined term 'biometric indicator' under §1 Chapter 93HH of Title XV of Part I of the Massachusetts General Laws, which lays down the rules on data breach notifications.
