Massachusetts: Bill on biometric data referred to Committee on Ways and Means

On April 16, 2024, Senate Docket 195 for an Act to Protect Personal Biometric Data was referred to the Senate Committee on Ways and Means after it was reported favorably by the Committee on Advanced Information Technology, the Internet, and Cybersecurity. In particular, the bill would establish that organizations shall not collect, capture, purchase, receive through trade, or otherwise obtain a person or a customer's biometric identifier or biometric information unless certain conditions are met.
