Kazakhstan: MDAI publishes cybersecurity issues report with recommendations for public, professionals, and businesses

On January 10, 2024, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace (MDAI) published a cybersecurity issues report with recommendations for the public, professionals, and businesses. The report discusses, among other things, the cybersecurity ecosystem, the level of public awareness, and data security threats.

What were the recommendations given to businesses?

In particular, the MDAI provided recommendations to business owners, employees of the relevant industries, IT specialists, and information security officers, including:

  • the management of a business should develop and implement an information security policy;
  • businesses should adopt a multi-layered approach to cybersecurity in order to reduce the risk of an attack by cryptographers;
  • businesses should review their policies on the use of personal devices for work purposes;
  • businesses should use email filters to reduce the risk of receiving phishing emails; and
  • businesses and their employees should use a password manager.
