International: South Korea and Singapore sign MoU regarding IoT security certification systems

On December 14, 2023, the Ministry for Science and ICT (MSIT) announced that it and the Korean Internet and Security Agency (KISA) had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Singaporean Cyber Security Agency (CSA) regarding the mutual recognition of Internet of Things (IoT) security certification systems.

What are the effects of the MoU?

The goal of the MoU is to sign the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on IoT Security Certification Systems in late 2024. Once the MRA comes into effect, the requirement to obtain a local certification will be removed when domestic products from South Korea are exported to Singapore.

Next steps

For the next six months, a comparative analysis of the IoT security certification systems of both countries will take place to complete the equivalence assessments.
