France: CNIL investigates France Travail following data breach

On March 13, 2024, the French data protection authority (CNIL) announced that it had launched an investigation into France Travail following the notification, on March 8, 2024, of a data breach. In particular, CNIL highlighted that the data breach potentially affected 43 million users, and personal information including first and last names, emails, addresses, telephone numbers, and social security numbers.

CNIL outlined that the investigation will focus on whether security measures implemented prior to the data breach were appropriate pursuant to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
