Denmark: Datatilsynet publishes 2023 annual report
On April 8, 2024, the Danish data protection authority (Datatilsynet) published its annual report for the year 2023. In particular, the Datatilsynet highlights that 2023 was marked as a year with a high level of activity with many guidance initiatives, larger and complex cases, and tasks of an international nature, with the Datatilsynet publishing 22 national guidelines and webpages, including new guidance on direct marketing and television surveillance aimed at private companies, public authorities, and housing associations.
Additionally, the Datatilysnet mentioned that in 2023, it handled 504 supervision cases, compared to 513 in 2022, and 974 international cases compared to 935 in 2022. Furthermore, the Datatilsynet received 9,537 data breach notifications, in comparison to 8,816 in 2022, seeing an 8.2% increase.
