Croatia: ZSIS adopts action plan to implement national cybersecurity strategy

On August 16, 2023, the Institute for Information Systems Security (ZSIS) announced the adoption, on July 13, 2023, of the action plan for the implementation of the National Cyber Security Strategy, 2022. The ZSIS stated that the action plan was created within the framework of the National Council for Cybersecurity and is closely related to the activities of the National Council presented in the Annual Report on Operational-Technical Coordination for Cybersecurity in 2022.

In particular, the action plan analyzes the implementation of measures in areas of cybersecurity and cybernetic security, which include, among others, cybercrime, data protection, and computer security incidents. Specifically on data protection, the action plan establishes five goals for the security and the smooth exchange and transfer of protected category data including improving the handling of protected data by:

  • those responsible for protected data;
  • executors of protected data processing; and
  • authorized users of protected data.

On the above, the action plan provides six measures to implement the goals and specifies details and deadlines for the same.
