West Virginia: Bill for Safe Harbor for Cybersecurity Programs passes both houses

On March 9, 2024, the West Virginia House of Representatives concurred with the West Virginia State Senate on amendments to House Bill 5338 for a Consumer Data Protection Act and Safe Harbor for Cybersecurity Programs and passed the bill on the same date. This follows the bill's passage by the Senate on March 7, 2024. In particular, the bill provides for the creation of a cybersecurity program framework.

The bill will now be sent to the West Virginia Governor for signature to become law. The bill will enter into effect on January 1, 2025, after its enactment.
