USA: White House publishes statement of administration policy on resolution reauthorizing FISA Section 702

On April 11, 2024, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) published a statement of administration policy for the House Resolution Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (HR 7888). In particular, the White House outlined support for HR 7888, which would reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) before its expiration on April 19, 2024. In addition, the White House outlined its opposition to the amendment to HR 7888 proposed by Representative Biggs, alleging that the amendment would block access to information already collected and in the possession of the U.S. Government.
