UK: Government moves Second Reading of Data Protection and Digital Information Bill

The Leader of the House of Commons, Mark Spencer, announced, on 5 September 2022, that the Second Reading of the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill would not take place as planned on the same date. In particular, Spencer outlined that business managers had agreed that the Government would not progress with the Second Reading and other motions relating to the bill on 5 September 2022, in order to allow Ministers to consider the legislation further. A new date for the Second Reading has not yet been announced.
