UK: DSIT announces new AI compliance advisory service
On September 19, 2023, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) announced a new advisory service to help businesses launch artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovations. In particular, DSIT highlighted that beginning in 2024, the service would provide businesses with tailored advice on how to meet regulatory requirements for digital technology and AI.
Further, DSIT noted that the service would be run by members of the Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum (DRCF), made up of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the Office of Communications (Ofcom), the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
DSIT clarified that the service would run for an initial one-year trial period to assess industry adoption, service feasibility, and how innovators interact with the service. Moreover, DSIT stated that businesses requiring advice would be invited to apply in due course.
