Turkey: KVKK announces Defacto Perakende Tic. data breach affecting 2,686 individuals
On September 21, 2023, the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) announced a data breach that occurred within Defacto Perakende Tic. AŞ. In particular, according to the data breach notification that Defacto Perakende Tic. submitted to the KVKK, following the deployment of a software update, some customers who accessed their account page could see information belonging to other customers. In this regard, the KVKK outlined that the number of individuals affected by the breach is estimated to be 2,686 and the categories of personal data affected by the breach are identity, contact, and customer transaction data.
