The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society ('MDES') announced, on 12 February 2022, that it had convened, on 10 February 2022, and held the first meeting of the Personal Data Protection Committee ('PDPC'). In particular, the MDES clarified that the meeting facilitated the establishment of the framework to drive the enforcement of the Personal Data Protection Act 2019 ('PDPA'), by setting out a six-month roadmap to push for urgent matters, which include the establishment of an office and enforcement. Furthermore, the MDES noted that during the meeting, the PDPC appointed a legal sub-committee to prepare a secondary law scrutiny plan for the proposed secondary laws and propose draft guidelines for giving opinions and responding to discussions in regards to the implementation of the PDPA.
