Thailand: Bangkok Airways issues statement on cybersecurity attack
Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited issued a statement, on 26 August 2021, notifying on its website of a cybersecurity attack which resulted in unauthorised and unlawful access to its information system. In particular, Bangkok Airways noted that as soon as it became aware of the unauthorised access, it took immediate steps with its cybersecurity team to investigate and contain the event. Currently, Bangkok Airways is investigating to verify the compromised data and the affected passengers and undertaking relevant measures to strengthen its IT system, and noted that the personal data which may have been accessed includes passenger names, family names, nationality, gender, phone numbers, emails, addresses, contact information, passport information, historical travel information, partial credit card information, and special meal information.
Furthermore, Bangkok Airways warned that phishing emails may target affected individuals to obtain further personal information.
