Sri Lanka: MDIIT launches mobile app to track Coronavirus

The Ministry of Digital Infrastructure and Information Technology ('MDIIT') announced, on 14 April 2020, that it had launched the MyHealth Mobile App, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine and the Information and Communication Technology Agency, to track the spread of COVID-19 ('Coronavirus'). In particular, the app would require users to record their location at the time of using the application, in the event of a user being infected by the virus, the app can disclose the stores location history information with the authorities to protect other users. In addition, MDIIT highlighted that all recorded location data will be kept securely within the mobile, and will not be transmitted to any external systems without the consent of the app user.
