Sri Lanka: CERT issues best practices for working from home

The National Centre for Cybersecurity ('CERT') issued, on 4 April 2020, its Working from Home Security Considerations ('the Guidance'), highlighting working from home best practiced for end-users and system administrators. In particular, the Guidance notes the importance of taking reasonable security measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of data. Specifically, the Guidance advises end users to implement measures, including installing anti-virus solutions on digital devices, keeping them up-to-date to protect data from malicious softwares, and being cautious when disposing any confidential documents or data. In addition, the Guidance notes that system administrators should, among other things, arrange and recommend VPN connections for user to access the office network, back up important data of the organisation in a periodic manner, and store them securely.
