Spain: Government constitutes new AI advisory council

The Government of Spain ('the Government') announced, on 20 July 2020, that it constituted a new advisory council for artificial intelligence ('AI'). In particular, the Government outlined that the advisory body will provide independent advice and recommendations on measures to be taken in order to ensure the safe and ethical use of AI. Specifically, the Government highlighted that the advisory council will assess the implications of AI technologies for sectors such as the administration and the future of work, the protection of fundamental rights, the management of data, the fight against discrimination, and the elimination of social gaps.
