Spain: AEPD's social responsibility report highlights commitment to good governance and sustainability

On May 30, 2023, the Spanish data protection authority (AEPD) published its 2022 social responsibility report, in which it reflected upon its commitment to society, good governance, transparency, integrity, and ethics. The report shows how social responsibility has been integrated transversally in all actions carried out by the AEPD, beyond legislative compliance.

Some of the key findings of the report include:

  • closing a digital pact with 445 entities, which promotes the compatibility of the right to data protection with innovation, ethics, and business competitiveness for a sustainable and ethical development of technology;
  • launching guides and tools, such as on data processing in the health sector or on data breach notification requirements; and
  • implementing transparency measures as a fundamental value to guarantee good governance.

You can read the press release here and the report here, both only available in Spanish.
