Slovenia: Ministry of Justice requests public comments on draft whistleblower protection law

The Ministry of Justice issued, on 30 June 2022, an updated version of its proposal for a whistleblower protection law, following initial consultations held in December 2021. In particular, the draft law sets out key considerations in transposing the Directive on the Protection of Persons who Report Breaches of Union Law (Directive (EU) 2019/1937) ('the Whistleblowing Directive'), including a review of existing protection measures under the Integrity and Prevention of Corruption Act 2011, the Employment Relationships Act 2013, and other laws. More specifically, the draft law includes, in Section II, the text of the Ministry of Justice's proposed law which, if enacted, would take effect 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette.

Comments on the draft law may be submitted until 10 August 2022.

You can download the draft law here and access the consultation portal here, both only available in Slovenian.
