Slovenia: Draft whistleblower protection law adopted by National Assembly

The Ministry of Justice announced, on 27 January 2023, that the draft Act on the Protection of Whistleblowers ('ZZPri') was adopted, on the same date, by the National Assembly. In particular, the Ministry explained that the first part of the ZZPri stipulates the obligation to set up reporting channels for public and private sector organisations with more than 50 employees, while external reporting will be dealt with by the 24 supervisory state authorities within their material competence.

Moreover, the Ministry explained that the second part of the ZZPri provides for a prohibition of retaliatory measures, and regulates safeguards to assist whistleblowers.
