Shanxi: Congress passes Social Credit Regulations

Credit China announced, on 31 May 2022, that the Standing Committee of the 13th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress had passed the Shanxi Province Social Credit Regulations. In particular, the regulations stipulate that social credit work must protect the legitimate rights and interests of credit subjects in accordance with the law, and protect state secrets, business secrets, and personal privacy. Moreover, the regulations provide that credit service agencies, among other entities, must strengthen the security protection of social credit information, as well as establish and improve areas, such as security management, emergency response, and the handling of complaints and reports, in order to protect the legitimate rights and interests of credit subjects. Furthermore, the regulations detail requirements for the protection of the rights and interests of credit subjects, including credit subject rights, such as the right to know and the right to correction.

The regulations will enter into effect on 1 October 2022.
