Senegal: CDP summarises actions to protect privacy during Coronavirus pandemic

The Senegalese data protection authority ('CDP') published, on 17 June 2020, a summary of the actions it had taken to protect personal data during the COVID-19 ('Coronavirus') pandemic. In particular, the CDP outlined that it had engaged with the national contingency plan in the fight against Coronavirus which was launched by the Head of State. More specifically, the CDP highlighted that it had, among other things, formed the Centre for Health Emergency Operations ('COUS'), issued its statement on digital contact tracing, and evaluated the digital solutions proposed by the Ministry of Health and Social Action. Furthermore, the CDP noted that it had participated in the committee for the initiative  to collaborate on digital solutions to Coronavirus ('DaanCovid'), which includes the Ministry of Health and Social Action, the Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Economy, the Organisation of Information and Communication Technology Professionals ('OPTIC'), and other digital service providers.
