Senegal: CDP publishes quarterly notice
The Senegalese data protection authority ('CDP') published, on 13 April 2022, a quarterly notice which describes the current situation of the protection of personal data in Senegal. In particular, the CDP noted that during the first quarter of 2022, the CDP processed 84 files, including 64 declarations and 20 authorisation requests.
Moreover, the CDP emphasised, among other things, that as part of the statutory meetings of the Committee of Convention 108, the members of the Bureau met in Paris, from 23 to 25 March 2022, to discuss the following subjects:
- draft Digital Identity Guidelines;
- a draft guidance note on Article 11 of the modernised Convention 108;
- contractual clauses in the context of cross-border data flows; and
- the review and evaluation mechanism of Convention 108.
In this context, the CDP highlighted that at the end of the meeting, the Bureau decided to circulate the draft guidelines, with a view to their adoption at the Plenary Meeting in June 2022.
