Saskatchewan: OIPC tables 2020-2021 annual report

The Office of the Saskatchewan Information and Privacy Commissioner ('OIPC') announced, on 28 June 2021, that it had tabled the office's 2020 annual report with the Legislative Assembly. In particular, the report focuses on the need and desire to modernise access and privacy legislation across Canada including suggested legislative change from the OIPC regarding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act 1996 ('HIPAA'). Furthermore, the report outlines that of the 98 reports issued in the 2020-2021 fiscal year 48% full compliance and 32% partial compliance was achieved and highlighted that response times increased by 9%. In addition, the report details the legislative amendments currently underway in Canada at the federal and provincial levels.
