Republic of Congo: Personal Data Protection Law published in Official Journal

OneTrust DataGuidance confirmed, on 14 January 2020, with João Luís Traça, Partner at Miranda & Associados, that Law 29-2019 on the Protection of Personal Data ('the Personal Data Protection Law') had been published, on 7 November 2019, in the Official Journal of the Republic of Congo ('the Official Journal'). In particular, the Personal Data Protection Law defines the scope of its application as well as data protection officers, data processing, and personal data. In addition, the Personal Data Protection Law establishes a commission ('the Commission') to supervise compliance with the same, and gives the Commission enforcement powers, including financial penalties.

You can access the Personal Data Protection Law, only available in French, here.
