Netherlands: AP requests information on AI aimed at children

On September 14, 2023, the Dutch data protection authority (AP) announced that it had requested information from a company using artificial intelligence (AI) for products aimed at children. The AP highlighted its concerns regarding the handling of personal data by a chatbot integrated into the company's app which is aimed at children. Specifically, the AP is concerned about how transparent the chatbot is about handling user data. The AP also reminded that in June 2023, it requested clarification from OpenAI L.L.C. about how Chat GPT handles personal data when training the underlying system.

Notably, the AP noted that owing to the training of data obtained through data scraping, it aims to publish guidance on data scraping soon.
