Morocco: Ministry of Health announces launch of tracing app
The Ministry of Health ('the Ministry') announced, on 1 June 2020, that it is launching the 'WIQAYTNA' tracing app for contact tracing during the COVID-19 ('Coronavirus') crisis. In particular, the Ministry noted that the app will be based on bluetooth technology and will notify users in case they come into prolonged contact with an individual who has tested positive for Coronavirus. In addition, the Ministry is collaborating closely with the Digital Development Agency and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority ('ANRT'), and highlighted that the app has been approved by the Moroccan data protection authority ('CNDP').
