Morocco: CNDP publishes statement approving vaccination passes
The Moroccan data protection authority ('CNDP') published, on 28 October 2021, a statement which approved the use of vaccination passes. In particular, the CNDP highlighted that it had held a meeting on 27 October to consider issues relating to the protection of personal data, and the deployment of vaccination passes. In addition, the CNDP noted that it had temporarily approved vaccination passes during the period when the country was in the state of a health emergency. Specifically, the CNDP noted that the use of personal data must comply with Law No. 09-08 on the Protection of Individuals with Regard to the Processing of Personal Data and, therefore, take into account the principle of proportionality, while respecting the stated purposes.
Moreover, the CNDP noted that the health pass, to date, presents:
- readable information;
- a QR code for use in Morocco; and
- a QR code for use in Europe.
