Montenegro: AZLP issues recommendations following cyber attacks

The Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information ('AZLP') published, on 2 September 2022, its recommendations to all state bodies, state administration bodies, local self-government bodies and local administration bodies, companies and other legal entities, entrepreneurs and natural persons, who process personal data, following a series of cyber attacks that targeted Montenegro.

In particular, the AZLP invited entities to adhere and implement the following recommendations:

  • to upgrade the level of protection of personal data for every person regardless of their personal circumstances;
  • to raise the level of protective measures, mechanisms, and resources to the highest possible; and
  • to provide, as required by law, technical, personnel, and organisational measures for the protection of personal data, in order to protect the same against, among others, loss, destruction, and unauthorised access.

You can read the recommendations, only available in Serbian, here.
