Mali: APDP issues statement on video surveillance

The Malian data protection authority ('APDP') issued, on 11 June 2019, a statement on the use of video surveillance. In particular, the APDP highlighted that data controllers are under an obligation to obtain authorisation from the APDP for the installation of video surveillance systems, in accordance with the Law No. 2013/015 of 23 May 2013 on the Protection of Personal Data in the Republic of Mali ('the Law').

APDP releases statement on consequences of unlawful use of video surveillance

The APDP released, on 20 June 2019, a statement on the consequences of unlawful use of video surveillance. In particular, the APDP highlighted that any use of video surveillance in violation of the Law may result in legal proceedings against the data controller, on behalf of individuals that were unlawfully filmed.
