Maldives: President ratifies Electronic Transaction Bill

The President's Office of the Republic of the Maldives announced, on 27 April 2022, that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had ratified the Electronic Transaction Bill No. 2/2022, following the approval of the Electronic Transaction Bill by the People's Majlis ('the Parliament') on 11 April 2022. In particular, the Electronic Transactions Bill establishes the policies governing the use of electronic transactions and trust services. More specifically, the Electronic Transactions Bill aims to ensure the validity of electronic transactions made locally and abroad, facilitating the use of electronic signatures alongside the removal of obstacles to electronic transactions.
